Chief Executive Officer
Richmond Villa, St. Peter’s, Nova Scotia
Richmond Villa, a sixty-eight bed integrated seniors facility located in beautiful St. Peter’s, Nova Scotia, is seeking a Chief Executive Officer to replace the incumbent who is retiring early in 2012.
The job of CEO has two key components. The first revolves around the philosophy of care. In this capacity, you will ensure that the mission and vision of the Villa are carried out with professionalism and understanding. You will ensure that all residents receive the standard of care and services they expect and that their families receive regular communication about their well-being. This involves seeking ways to improve the overall quality of care, being receptive to new ideas and approaches, and making certain that all programs are delivered with kindness and warmth.
Likewise, you will demonstrate the same degree of leadership and care toward staff who work in a physically and emotionally-challenging setting every day. This involves managing an excellent team of professionals who oversee all aspects of training and education, performance management, coaching, maintenance, recreation, environmental services, and workplace safety.
The second key component of the CEO job is the business side. This involves several elements including finances, buildings, operations, human resources, administration, licensing, board relations, and legislative requirements. Funding is always a challenge for facilities like Richmond Villa, so careful budgeting and maintaining a strong working relationship with the provincial government are critical to success in this job.
As the ideal candidate, you have senior level management experience coupled with a solid understanding of the health services industry. You are a collaborative leader with an impressive track record building consensus among many stakeholders such as governments, employees, unions, residents, health authorities, and the community at large.
You are familiar with the challenges facing the health care industry, specifically seniors facilities, and you bring well-rounded business expertise in finance, administration, human resources, operations, program management, and government relations. You possess well-developed personal qualities including integrity, adaptability, communication and leadership skills. Further, you have a strong appreciation for governance issues and understand the importance of an effective Board – staff relationship.
