The Association staff and the Board of Directors work to provide the following services:
We are a voice on issues that impact the long term care sector in New Brunswick, through political and stakeholder advocacy, building relationships and partnerships, and development and presentation of position papers/ reports.
We strive to provide on-going two-way communication with our members to keep the members informed on association activities and the latest pertinent information.
As part of our advocacy role, we communicate as frequently as possible with those who have the ability to impact outcomes to ensure that our member’s interests are known.
Association hosted events and Association supported events provide opportunity for members to share information with each other and provide feedback to NBANHs.
The member’s forum on the website allows for virtual networking with colleagues.
We maintain membership in the Canadian Alliance for Long Term Care to interact nationally with colleagues from other provinces on areas of common interest.
The Association’s Education Committee works to identify educational opportunities for our membership and methods of delivery.
We support the Symposium put on by the Atlantic Institute for Aging Care.
We host an Annual Meeting and Convention that has an education focus.
The Association, NB Nurses Union, Canadian Union of Public Employees, and the NB Union oversee the management of member pension plans through the Pension Committee.
The Association, NB Nurses Union, Canadian Union of Public Employees, and the NB Union oversee the management of health and benefits for members through the Health and Benefits Committee. This includes the Health Insurance program, Employee and Family Assistance Program and the provincial wellness program.
Legal and Labour Relations Services
The Association negotiates employment contracts on behalf of member homes and serves to assist with on-going interpretation and related processes of the collective agreements. This includes various aspects of labour management such as grievances, hearings and arbitration.
We act in an advisory role for HR Management as it relates to collective agreements, and other HR workplace issues that could have legal implications.
The Association provides legal consulting services to homes.
The Association gives awards annually at the Annual General Meeting to recognize our member’s dedication to excellence. These awards include the Life Enrichment Award; the Volunteer Award and the Workplace Quality Award.
