ASSOCIATION REPORTS
Land Acknowledgement
The New Brunswick Association of Nursing Homes would like to acknowledge that the land on which we operate is the traditional unceded territory of the Wolastoqiyik, Mi’kmaq, and Peskotomuhkati. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship” which Wolastoqiyik, Mi’kmaq, and Peskotomuhkati Peoples co-developed and signed with the British Crown in the 18th century. The treaties did not deal with the surrender of lands and resources but in fact recognized Wolastoqiyik, Mi’kmaq, and Peskotomuhkati title and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations.
